The Deltas

Happy Wednesday dumplings and no I’m  not going to talk about land forms. On Monday I posted two cards, because I felt Monday marked two very important events, the founding of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the birthday of the late Dr. M.L. King, Jr.

i commemorated these events with eclipse cards. I felt that it was only right to do the same type of card to commemorate the founding of another sorority, Delta Sigma Theta.  This organization was also founded at Howard University.  It was founded on January 13, 1913.  I have several friends that are members of the Deltas, but I’ll confess that my knowledge is woefully lacking as it’s not the group of which I’m a member.

Alpha Kappa Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta are part of a larger group affectionately referred to as “The Divine Nine”.  I’ll be telling you about the other sororities and the fraternities that comprise “The Divine Nine” at a later date. Right it’s the Deltas. The card I made has a 51/2 x 81/2 inch Real Red Card base. I used both red and white glimmer paper to add sparkle. There’s a 51/4 x4 inch layer of red glimmer layered on the front of the card base. The 1913 was cut out of white glimmer paper using the Large Number framelit dies and the Big Shot. I attached the layer of glimmer paper using Snail adhesive and the 1913 was attached using our Foam adhesive strips.

Im very pleased with how this turned out and I’m sure my Delta friends will like it too.
