The Sun is the single most important source of energy for life on Earth – it guides our clocks, calendars and planting schedules. We may be enduring a heat wave this week, but we still associate the Sun with positivity, joy and renewal. We are excited to share our creations with you today! Hello my sweet sugar dumplings. I had a bit of a hard time deciding exactly how to interpret the sunshine theme. First I thought sunflowers, they make me happy and they’re bright like the sun. Then I heard a Bill Withers song from back in the day, “Ain’t No Sunshine” and I thought of who brings sunshine into my life. My children, even now as adults, bring me happiness with something as simple as a phone  call just to say hi. Since my younger daughter’s birthday is next month I decided to make a birthday card.  I used the Beautiful You stamp set, Seaside Spray and Whisper White card stock and Basic Black ink. I used a scrap of yellow ( sorry don’t know the color) and a 21/4 inch circle punch. I decided to make an easel card and here are the directions.

You’ll need one 41/4” x 81/2 in piece of card stock. One 41/4 in square piece of card stock. Mine were both Seaside Spray ( my daughter likes blue). For my card front I used 4in square of Whisper White and 33/4 in square of Seaside Spray. I stamped the image from the Beautiful You stamp set onto Whisper White card stock with Basic Black ink and then fussy cut it. I layered the 33/4 in square onto the 4 in square using Snail. Using the 2 1/4 in circle punch I punched out a piece of yellow card stock and attached it to the smaller square. Then I attached the fussy cut image to the yellow circle with Snail adhesive and my card front was complete. Then using the Stampin’ Up scoreboard I scored the 41/4 in x 81/2 in piece of card stock at 4 1/4in and 6 3/8in. Fold and burnish the score lines. First Fold it in half and then fold the the 63/8 in the opposite direction from the 41/4 in score line. Place the larger section on your work surface. With the larger unscored section on your work surface there is a section that measures 21/8 that’s where you’ll place adhesive I used Snail, but you could use Tearin’ Tape or Tombow All purpose Liquid Glue to attach the 41/4 in square. Line up the top of the square with the top of the 21/8 in x 41/4 in section. This creates the easel card base. At this point I attached my card front to the Seaside Spray square with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Using a die from the Magnolia Memories cut and emboss die set I made a small stop for my easel card and that’s where I stamped Happy  Birthday. Here’s a picture of my card. I am pleased with it, but I may make a different one for her before she arrives for a visit next month.
