An Univited Visitor

I know what you’re thinking, “Miss Hammie, it’s Wednesday and we haven’t heard from you this week”.  Here’s my explanation, all weekend Miss Hammie wracked her brain in an attempt to get her creative juices, which are practically nonexistent, flowing. It was like trying to get champagne from a squash, a total no go. So I decided to see what thoughts Monday morning brought and post it by noon. I had a dream about treat bags, funny little Halloweenie treat bags. Alas Miss Hammie doesn’t own the treat bag thinlits so she went on an online hunt, she even emailed the one person she knew that could make treat bags without the thinlits.  Then brainstorm, check YouTube. After a bit of trying different searches yureeka I found it. I wrote down the dimensions, found that Halloween Paper from who knows when ( that took a minute if you catch my drift) and the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set. I even managed to locate those gorgeous black doilies from last Halloween, at least I think it was last Halloween. I even did a little happy dance. Then Miss Hammie noticed it was really overcast and windy.  Then I noticed the rain seemed to be picking up. Then the wind died down and the rain slacked up. So I shrugged and said I wonder how long this is going to last.

I picked my dsp, found what I thought was complementary cardstock and ink and got to work. Wait a minute did the lights just blink off and then back on? I better check FB and make sure everyone’s ok. Everyone seems to be ok. Are we still under a tropical storm warning? Did the lights do that thing again? I decided to take a look out the window because it’s awfully dark for barely 2:00PM.  Shorty after that Miss Hammie heard a crack, was it thunder, was that dead tree next door falling? I got to the window just in time to see a tree fall across the street taking the power lines with it. Irma had arrived, totally uninvited, in my neighborhood.

My first thought was thank the Lord it wasn’t the tree next door. Then it hit me, I don’t have any power. That was Monday, which rolled into Tuesday and still no power. When I left Wednesday morning no power. When I returned after a physical therapy session and running a few errands practically every light in my house was on, thank you Georgia Power.

Now for the mini-treat bags.  First thank you Angie Kennedy Juda for coming up with the original dimensions for the mini-treat bags for those of us who don’t own the thinlits.  I’ll let you in on a secret, I probably bought the dsp I used to do a project from one of Angie Juda’s previous 12 Weeks of Halloween, she does it every year.  Any who, here are the treat bags. Everything but the sentiment which is from The Wood Words stamp set and the coordinating cardstock is retired. I don’t get trick or treaters, I don’t have grandchildren and I’ve retired from teaching so I don’t buy a lot of Halloween related products.

I think they’re sort of cute in a Halloweeie kind of way.  However if Halloween is your thing or it’s a thing where you work check out the Holiday catalog there are quite a few really cute stamp sets and bundles that I’m sure you’ll love. In fact there’s a bundle I intend to get before Halloween to make little treat bags for my former co-workers.

This month’s hostess code is ZDH4DXYP use it when you place your order.

Dont forget with a qualifying order you can get the new Merry Patterns stamp set. You can’t buy it, you have to earn it. Merry Patterns is a host set that you can earn by holding a qualifying event, that’s $300.00 before tax and shipping and handling. Now if you’ve got a wish list like Miss Hammie’s you can place an individual order or you and a friend or two, can place an order. As long as that order is $300.00 you earn the Merry Patterns stamp set. Just remember when they ask for your demonstrator to list Miss Hammie’s alter ego Robbye Hamilton.  If you have questions about this promotion let me know in the comments. If you don’t just say hi, glad you’re ok in the comments.

Hopefully all things considered you will cut Miss Hammie a little slack and be prepared for two projects on Friday.

      1. The hurricane damage so far this year has been horrible – I feel for Texas, Florida, the Islands in the Caribbean. We get the end of a hurricane (I am in a mid-Atlantic state) every few years and we lose power for 3 to 5 days every time. I end up bailing the sump pump by hand in candle light.
