Happy Thursday dumplings, I promised you a lovely Double Gate Fold Card and even gave you a little sneaky peeky.
I used one of the InColors, Lemon Lime Twist. The card base is the Lemon Lime sheet from the Fresh Floral dsp pack. Inside the card I used Lemon Lime Twist and Whisper White cardstock. For the sentiments on the front and inside I used the stamp set Lovely Inside and Out. I used two of the Layering Circles for the “latch” on my gate. Finally I embellished both the front and inside of the card with rhinestones.
I decided to let you see the finished product before I go thru the “how to” steps.
I love this project and I’m sure you’ll like it too.
Pretty cute, right? Here’s how you make your own Double Gate Fold card.
The card base is made with designer series paper that has an image on both sides. Trim the dsp to 12 x 5 1/2.
Next you will score the dsp at 2 inches, 4 inches, 8 inches and 10 inches. Now turn the dsp 90 degrees and make a small pencil mark at 2 3/4 inches, then turn it around and make a pencil mark at 2 3/4 inches on the other end. Then make a pencil mark on the top edge where you scored at 4 inches and 8 inches.
Now you’re going to use your trimmer to make diagonal cuts from the pencil marks at 4 and 8 inches to the pencil marks at 2 3/4 on each side. Line the pencil mark at 4 inches up with pencil mark on the left and 8 inches to the one on the right. Save the triangles that you cut off you’ll need them. Erase the pencil marks and then fold and burnish your score lines.
Now it’s time to attach the triangles to the card. Open your card out flat, apply adhesive to the large part of the triangle and line the large end up with the 4 inch score line, notice that the score line in the triangle lines up with the 2 inch score line. Fold back toward the center and rub to make sure the triangle is adhered. Then apply adhesive to the point of the triangle and adhere from the 2 inch score line to the edge. Repeat on the other side.
On the inside I used a piece of Whisper White cardstock for my sentiment. It measures 3 1/4 inches x 4 3/4 inches. I layered it on a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock that measures 3 1/2 inches x 5 inches. My sentiment was stamped in Lemon Lime Twist ink. I used two of the Layering Circles for the sentiment on the front again using Lemon Lime Twist and Whisper White cardstock. I case’d this gorgeous card from one done by Dawn Olchefske.
