Hello dumplings, I told you yesterday that I would be sharing a card with you today. What? What did you say? “Miss Hammie if you’re sharing a card why is the post called Christmas Quilt?” The name comes from the stamp set/ framelits dies bundle and paper stack that I used. The stamp set is called Christmas Quilt and the paper stack, beautiful 6 x 6 sheets of Designer Series Paper in prints reminiscent of the cozy quilts of our childhoods.
Miss Hammie is the first to confess she feels a sense of awe around quilters. I’m sure the only kind I could actually manage to put together would be the well known “Crazy Quilt”. The other ones are just waaay to intricate and precise. They are waaay beyond Miss Hammie’s sewing ability. Changing that, my sewing ability or lack there of, is on my bucket list. I would love to be able to make slip covers, draperies, custom bed spreads and quilts. You could actually using the stamp set and framelits dies construct a miniature quilt from dsp and card stock. I am definitely going to give that a try on Cards for my friends with winter birthdays.
However the temperature climbed to 87 degrees on Wednesday thanks to the remnants of Tropical Storm Nate so Miss Hammie wasn’t thinking sweater much less quilt, but it will dip to the 50’s soon.
If you’re a quilter you’ll recognize the quilting piece pattern that I highlighted on my card.
Now let me walk you thru it. I started with a Real Red cardbase that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches. I layered Whisper White cardstock 4 3/4 x 3 1/2 inches on Lemon Lime Twist cardstock 5 x 3 3/4 inches. I used one of the plain circle dies from the Layering Circles framelits dies to cut a circle of Real Red cardstock which is embellished with Quilted Christmas dsp that I cut using one of the dies from the Quilt Builder framelits dies collection. I embellished that with one of our new Silver Faceted Gems. The sentiment was stamped using Basic Black ink on Whisper White that I layered on Lemon Lime Twist.
The Designer Series Paper Sale is still going strong thru Oct. 31st.
And also thru Oct. 31st the Special Merry Patterns hostess set with a $300.00 or more order.
Oh Robbye, this is precious! I love quilts and love this star design.
