B is for Boxes

Happy Monday dumplings.  I wanted to share a few 3 – D projects this week.  I decided to go with boxes. Holiday time is the perfect time to share boxes because boxes are the perfect way to share holiday gifts.  There are quite a few demonstrators who do 3- D projects that inspire me. Today’s is one I CASE’D from UK demonstrator Angelina Clark at Intatwyne Designs. It’s a long skinny box. Angelina did hers with a Christmas theme. I chose to do mine in Fall colors. The box itself is done using Old Olive card stock. I added a piece of dsp from the Painted Autumn dsp pack that I layered over Pumpkin Pie card stock. The sentiment is stamped on a small piece of Very Vanilla card stock with Cajun Craze ink. It comes from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set. I added a Flirty Flamingo bow. I’m pleased with how this project turned out. It’s really not difficult and is the perfect size for a piece of jewelry or the Lindor candy that Angelina put in hers.

To make this box you need a piece of card stock that measures 8 3/4” x 6 1/4”.  Score the 8 3/4” side at 3/4” and 8”.  Then score the 6 1/4” side at 3/4”, 2 3/4”, 3 1/2”, and 5 1/2”. Fold and burnish the all the score lines.  You’ll need an additional piece of card stock that measures     7 1/16” x 1 13/16”, I chose to use a color that coordinated with the dsp I used. The piece of dsp measures 7” x 1 3/4”.  Layer the dsp on the card stock, I adhered it with Multi-Purpose liquid glue, however Fast Fuse would work as effectively, but I like the “wiggle room” that the liquid glue gives. Then adhere it to the box. Once again Miss Hammie neglected to do “step by step” pictures, but I’ll try to talk you thru creating the tabs for the box. On the 8 3/4” side there should be 4 vertical score lines. Using your paper snips cut on those score lines to the first horizontal score line. Do this on both sides, making sure to miter the sides of the tabs. Use Fast Fuse or Multi-Purpose liquid glue to adhere the tabs in place to create the top and bottom of the box.

Don’t forget what happened at midnight mountain time.
