Hello dumplings, yeah yeah I know, I know, no posting blah, blah, blah. However when something that is so unexpected it falls into the knock me over with a feather category happens one must share. Well maybe not everyone, but Miss Hammie must share. Let’s begin at the beginning. Both of the Daughters of Miss Hammie are creative. Miss Hammie’s Older paints and does unique mixed media pieces. Miss Hammie’s Younger has a talent for photography and writing. I reiterate both the Younger Miss Hammies are creative, but neither has shown any interest, beyond receiving cards, in even trying paper crafting like I do. So imagine my surprise, no not surprise but shock when Older asked if I could show her how to make something. I tried to remain calm and to breathe deeply so as not to faint as I calmly asked “What do you want to make?”. As she went about describing what she wanted to make I was thinking please either let me know how to do it or let there be a video. When I figured out she wanted a pillow box I, internally, went into a panic because my first thought was “I don’t have that framelit”. Then I thought “People made ‘em before the framelits check YouTube”. I did and showed her the video. Then I found Christmas dsp from last Year’s holiday catalog. Talk about giving myself mental high fives for getting those extra rolls of tear ‘n tape. She actually made 6 pillow boxes and said it was, get this dumplings, fun. Not only that she let me take pictures so I have proof!
Here’s Miss Hammie’s Older Daughter making pillow boxes without framelits. It’s practically an early Christmas present.
