its snowing off and on in Miss Hammie’s hometown Atlanta, GA. Since I haven’t posted about “Outlander” in a while and “Droughtlander” will be here very soon. Just some thoughts on “Droughtlander” and my plans.
If you’re an Outlander fan like I am then you know that this week’s episode is the finale of the third season of the show. Depending on how you view the series you can spend what the fans have dubbed “Droughtlander” in several different ways. You can go back and start watching seasons 1 – 3 in their entirety again or you can go back and simply watch your favorite episodes again. Personally I’ve seen the episode “The Wedding” from season 1 so many times I’ve practically memorized the script. Or you can find another series to watch. I have been trying to decide how I would spend the time between seasons 3 and 4 and have finally come to a decision that works for me. I’ve decided to finish reading the book in the series that I was reading when I went into, for lack of a better term, “Gabaldon Overload”.
I watched episode 1 of season 1 and it was quite simply “Reel me in, I’m hooked”. I wanted to know where all this wonderfulness had come from so I decided to read “the book”. I went to Amazon to get “the book” and discover there was more than one book, there were 8. Just to keep the record straight, now there are 9. As I did a bit more looking I discover along with the “Outlander” series that the author, Diana Gabaldon, had written more than a couple of books about a character who first appears in the “Outlander” series, Lord John Gray. I haven’t read any of the Lord Gray books as I’ve discovered I must take Diana Gabaldon in small does. Before anyone breaks out their flame thrower to destroy me, please allow me to explain. While watching historical fiction is something I enjoy, when it comes to reading material it’s not even in my top five genres. So reading the first 3 books in the “Outlander” series and 3/4 of the fourth back to back had me sounding a bit like boxer Roberto Duran. Yes, that’s right I was saying “No mas “. So I’m going back to page one chapter one in the fourth book in the series. I’m going to take my time and hopefully not feel like the book is never ending before I come to the last page of the last chapter. If there’s time, because I have no plan to rush thru the book, I may read a few chapters of book 5, maybe not. I have books 5, 6 and 7 on my Kindle already. The last 2 I got from audible, perhaps just listening will be better, who knows. How are you going to spend Droughtlander?
